Create Special Effects for your Games

Explosions and Special Effects. They look good but making animated effects for games isn't as easy as it could be. ExGen is designed to fulfill all the special effects art requirements for your video games.

Wrapped in an intuative interface, the powerful ExGen system allows you to create a wide variety of effects which can then be exported as image/s or an AVI animation file for instant use in your games. Texture objects with an explosion animation, or rising smoke, pulsating lights, lazer beams or anything else you can create.

How does it work?

ExGen uses a series of particle systems to create animated special effects with great speed. Especially useful for Explosions ExGen can also be used to make a multitude of different animations.

  • Easily create single or sequentially numbered animation images
  • Create and position multiple particle systems
  • Use your own images to colour and shape the particles
  • Use a timeline to change the start time of the particle animations
  • Add Attractors and Deflectors to manipulate the positions of the individual particles
  • Adjust over 30 different parameters to make literally thousands of different combinations of particle animations

You have full control over the export properties of your effects. You can set the size of the final images, exporting into either separate images or a strip of images (as shown above). A handy feature includes the "power of 2" setting, some 3D cards can only handle textures that uses images with a dimension that is a power of 2 (i.e. 64x64, 128x128, 256x256). ExGen has an option to take this into consideration automatically and resize the final output as needed.
